Solar pool heaters use solar thermal collectors to capture the sun’s energy and circulate pool water through them, raising its temperature before returning it to the pool. They are one of the most cost-effective and eco-friendly ways to extend the swimming season, especially in sunny regions. These systems typically use uncovered plastic or rubber collectors (for warmer climates) or glazed collectors with glass covers (for cooler climates). A pump (often the existing pool pump) moves the water through the collectors, requiring minimal additional energy.
