Small Scale Integration (SSI) refers to an early generation of integrated circuits (ICs) that contain a relatively small number of logic gates or electronic components—typically fewer than 100 transistors—on a single chip. These ICs were widely used during the 1960s and 1970s and are primarily composed of basic digital logic building blocks such as AND, OR, NOT, NAND, and NOR gates, as well as flip-flops and simple multiplexers.
