The Lufft WS500‑UMB is a rugged, compact all‑in‑one weather sensor designed for professional meteorological and environmental monitoring. It integrates measurement of air temperature, relative humidity, air pressure, wind speed, and wind direction within a single durable IP66-rated housing. The device uses ultrasonic technology (no moving parts) for wind measurement, NTC for temperature, capacitive sensors for humidity, and a MEMS capacitive sensor for pressure. It features a ventilated, aspirated radiation shield to reduce solar heating effects and a built-in heater to handle frost conditions. Data interfaces include RS‑485 with support for multiple protocols (UMB‑Binary, UMB‑ASCII, Modbus‑RTU/ASCII, XDR, SDI-12), allowing flexible integration into existing telemetry or datalogger systems. The sensor supports one external input (e.g., for an external temperature or rain gauge), and its open communication protocol enables compatibility with many commercial met/hydro‑met data systems.
