Garmin G5 DG HSI Kit for Certified Aircraft Systems

The Garmin G5 DG/HSI Kit brings a modern glass-panel upgrade to certified GA aircraft by replacing legacy directional gyro or HSI instruments with a compact, 3.5″ sunlight-readable LCD display. Approved via STC for more than 560 aircraft models, it provides magnetic heading using a GMU‑11 magnetometer, and supports VOR/LOC or GPS course deviation when paired with compatible navigators. A dedicated rotary knob simplifies tuning the course and heading bug. It runs on 14 or 28 VDC and includes a built-in 4-hour lithium-ion backup battery for emergency power. The G5 interfaces with a variety of autopilots for coupled NAV or heading modes, and dual installations offer full redundancy with reversionary display and dual ADAHRS. Its shallow 3‑inch depth lets it fit into standard 3‑1/8″ instrument cutouts, making it a drop-in replacement in many aircraft.
