Stereo microscopes, also known as dissecting microscopes, are optical instruments designed to provide a three-dimensional (3D view of specimens at low to medium magnification (typically 5x to 80x). Unlike compound microscopes, they use two separate optical paths with two objectives and two eyepieces, delivering depth perception and realistic viewing of the sample surface.
These microscopes are ideal for examining the surface details, textures, and larger specimens that do not require high magnification. Stereo microscopes are commonly equipped with top (incident) and bottom (transmitted) illumination for viewing opaque and transparent objects.
