Automotive Batteries are rechargeable energy storage devices designed to start the engine and supply electrical power to a vehicle’s systems. They provide the high current required for engine cranking and deliver stable power to components such as lighting, ignition, infotainment, and onboard electronics.
Most automotive batteries are lead-acid based, including flooded (wet cell), maintenance-free, AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat), and EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) types. These batteries are engineered to withstand vibration, temperature variations, and frequent charge–discharge cycles typical of automotive environments.
Key characteristics include voltage rating (typically 12 V), cold cranking amps (CCA), reserve capacity (RC), amp-hour (Ah) rating, and service life. Proper charging and maintenance are essential to ensure reliable performance and extended lifespan.
