Farm Fresh Onion

An onion is a bulbous vegetable with a layered structure and a distinctive, pungent flavour. It has a papery outer skin that comes in white, yellow, or red, depending on the variety. Inside, it consists of multiple concentric layers that are fleshy, juicy, and often slightly translucent. When chopped or sliced, onions release sulfur compounds that can irritate the eyes and cause tears.
