Air-core inductors are inductors that do not use a magnetic core material; instead, the wire coil is wound around a non-magnetic core, such as plastic, ceramic, or simply air. This design eliminates core losses and saturation, making air-core inductors ideal for high-frequency applications like RF circuits, transmitters, and filters. They offer excellent linearity, fast response, and stable inductance over a wide frequency range. Although they typically require more turns or larger sizes to achieve the same inductance as core-based inductors, air-core inductors provide superior performance where low distortion and minimal energy loss are critical.
